Video Versatility

Merging Technologies Presents VCube Version 3

Switzerland, September 2010: Merging Technologies is delighted to introduce the latest version of the most versatile multi-purpose video player / recorder at this year’s IBC in Amsterdam. VCube V3, from the developers of the award-winning Pyramix Virtual Studio audio workstation.

With the option of full support for Dolby E decoding and playback, Sony 9-pin (P2 Protocol) over IP and a completely re-written user manual VCube Version 3 builds on the success of earlier versions. Already an established and vital part of the sound-for-picture workflow in film and television facilities all over the world, V3 further enhances versatility, speed and convenience.

Dolby E is now integral to audio transport in broadcast. VCube 3 can decode and play back Dolby streams transparently. A 48kHz Stereo pair containing a Dolby E stream is simply placed on a VCube track and the tracks to be decoded selected from a drop-down menu – no plug-in allocation required.

VCube 3 offers a new way to synchronize with Pyramix – via Sony 9-pin over IP. 9-pin over IP is an extremely convenient and effective method of synchronizing and controlling a VCube from Pyramix. No set up is required in the VCube, it just works.

VCube supports all Standard and High-definition formats in NTSC, PAL and High Definition. The system can stream media files, OMF, AAF and FCP-XML compositions directly from a media server, bypassing the rendering stage for audio post production. Even complex multi-layer compositions including different media types can be displayed in real-time. VCube can also ‘wrap’, i.e. embed, your final mix audio into a new MXF, AVI or QuickTime file for delivery without decoding the original video.

The family of VCube player-only and player/recorder models is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of applications including audio post production, film dubbing, ADR/Foley, theaters, theme parks, video ingest and a multitude of other audio/video and video only applications, either as a standalone system, or as part of a multi-system network.

Merging Technologies products are appreciated internationally for their outstanding audio quality, versatility and usability. VCube adds the picture element to match.
