Merging Technologies Announces Technology Partnership with Dataton AB

WATCHOUT and Ovation combine video and audio sequencing for cohesive workflow

Puidoux, January 24th, 2012: Merging Technologies will be announcing a technology partnership with Dataton AB at this year’s Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show in Amsterdam. This partnership comes from a desire on both sides to vastly increase the creative tools available to both Ovation and Dataton users. On the Ovation end, Dataton will now be able to provide unrivalled video power. While on the Dataton side, users will now be able to have an audio tool allowing them as much flexibility and scalability as they have become used to with the video side of the Dataton Watchout software.

WATCHOUT is the highly acclaimed video playback and sequencing tool made by Swedish company Dataton AB. WATCHOUT provides multi-display production and playback and lets you orchestrate stills, animations, graphics, video and live feeds in a single impressive show across multiple display areas, soft-edge or scattered. WATCHOUT is fully scalable, software-based and requires no proprietary hardware.

Ovation is a revolutionary media server and sequencer from Merging Technologies SA in Switzerland. Ovation provides playback and sequencing for large scale audio productions with an internal mix engine providing control over playback and live input feeds. Able to manage up to 384 discrete audio feeds into 256 bus outputs, complete with eq, compression and other fx, scene saving and recall, as well as being able to receive and transmit a wide variety of control protocols at the same time, Ovation is the perfect tool for any audio based production.

The technology partnership is based around the integration of the two products to provide a cohesive workflow paradigm when operating both on a show. The primary stage will see the Dataton timelines including a new Ovation control object, which can be placed as any other object in Dataton can. The object will provide Fire, Stop, Select, Dim, and other commands directly to the Ovation system over a standard TCP/IP connection. Considered to be an initial phase of a continuing relationship, users of both products will see more and more integration occurring from this point on as well. "We are looking forward to working with Merging, bringing the benefits of this technical cooperation to both WATCHOUT and Ovation users.” Observed Fredrik Svahnberg, Dataton’s Marketing Director.

“We've seen a rapid rise in requirements for more advanced audio solutions in typical visual applications, and we know that there is already a demand for tight integration between our WATCHOUT multi-display system and Merging's Ovation Sound Server."

Both Manufacturers will be showing this integration on their respective stands at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2012. Dataton is exhibiting on stand 7K170 and Merging Technologies will be on stand 7E196.
